Wallpaper Care &
Maintenance

All Casa Morova wallpaper is commercial-grade vinyl — the same material used in hotels, restaurants, and high-traffic commercial spaces. It's built to last and easy to look after.

Routine cleaning

For day-to-day maintenance, a damp cloth is all you need. The vinyl surface wipes clean easily and won't be damaged by routine moisture.

For stubborn marks or stains

  1. Mix a small amount of mild household detergent with warm water.
  2. Apply with a soft sponge or cloth, working from the bottom of the affected area upward.
  3. Rinse the area from top to bottom with clean water to remove any soapy residue.
  4. Pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Commercial-grade means scrubbable. Unlike standard residential wallpaper, commercial vinyl is designed to handle firm cleaning. You don't need to be delicate — but always start gentle and increase pressure only if needed.

What to use — and what to avoid

✓ Safe to use

Damp cloth or sponge
Mild dish detergent diluted in water
Soft-bristle brush for textured surfaces
Warm water rinse
Lint-free cloth to dry

✗ Avoid these

Solvent-based cleaners
Bleach or ammonia products
Abrasive scourers or steel wool
Undiluted chemical sprays
Excessive water left to pool at seams

Harsh chemicals and abrasive products can fade, discolour, or break down the vinyl surface — even on commercial-grade material. When in doubt, start with plain warm water.

Humid & high-moisture areas

The vinyl surface is waterproof and handles moisture well. However, prolonged exposure to extreme humidity can affect the adhesive over time, particularly at the seams.

In bathrooms, kitchens, or other high-moisture rooms, we recommend:

  • Ensuring adequate ventilation — use exhaust fans and open windows where possible
  • Wiping down walls after steam-heavy activity (hot showers, cooking) if moisture is visible
  • Checking seams periodically and addressing any early lifting promptly
Seam adhesion issues are usually preventable with good ventilation. If you notice a seam beginning to lift, address it early — a small re-adhesion job is far simpler than a larger repair later.

Longevity & general care

Commercial-grade vinyl wallcovering is built to last decades. With routine cleaning and a stable environment, it will far outlast standard residential wallpaper.

A few things that will help it perform at its best over time:

  • Avoid prolonged direct sunlight on the same section of wall — UV exposure can cause gradual fading over many years in any wallcovering.
  • Maintain a reasonably stable temperature in the room. Extreme temperature fluctuations can cause the substrate to expand and contract, which can affect seams over time.
  • Inspect the installation annually — particularly at corners, edges, and seams — and address any minor lifting before it becomes a larger area.
  • For heavy soiling in commercial settings, periodic professional cleaning is an option — always specify the product is commercial vinyl to your cleaning contractor.

Installation care

Proper installation is the foundation of a long-lasting result. A few things worth knowing before your installer starts:

  • Walls should be clean, dry, and properly primed before hanging. Any surface contamination or moisture in the wall substrate will affect adhesion.
  • Inspect all rolls in good natural light before installation begins. Any suspected fault must be identified before the wallpaper is installed — once it's on the wall, we can no longer assess a manufacturing fault claim.
  • Allow the adhesive to cure fully before cleaning the surface — your installer will advise on the curing time for the adhesive they've used.
Always check before you hang. This is standard industry practice. Beginning installation is taken as acceptance that the product was received in satisfactory condition.

Questions?

If you have a question about care or maintenance that isn't covered here, you're welcome to get in touch and we'll do our best to help. For questions about installation, speak with your installer — they'll know what's appropriate for your specific wall substrate and the adhesive they're working with.
